Easy Sloppy Joe Recipe

What I love about this one pan dinner is how it checks all the boxes: quick, hearty, kid-friendly, and made with simple pantry staples.

I’ve been making this for busy weeknights when I want something that feels nostalgic but doesn’t leave me feeling heavy. Makes great leftovers and is super easy to switch up with different toppings or to serve over lettuce or rice instead of a bun.

How to make sloppy joes healthier:

Use ground turkey instead of ground beef to keep them leaner or use grass fed beef to get all the benefits from the beef.

Limit the sugar content found in certain ketchup or added brown sugar.

Stick to real ingredients! The long list of ingredients found on sloppy joe cans is full of additives.

What do you serve sloppy joes with?

My favorite way to eat this easy sloppy joe recipe is over a baked sweet potato (don't knock it til you try it!) or in a pita pocket served with steamed broccoli and corn on the side. These are the "healthier sloppy joe" way.

Of course, these are also amazing served on a regular bun!
